Bushranger Thunderbolt In The News
The last professional bushranger in New South Wales, was Captain Thunderbolt. And now he looks set to join his infamous colleague, Ben Hall, on the State Heritage Register.
History
Thunderbolt held up mail coaches and inns in the Upper Hunter and New England regions in the 1860s.
The Heritage Council has recommended four sites linked to Thunderbolt, whose real name was Fred Ward, should be given maximum protection.
